A Thing Or Two About Meatballs

Though the most common way to have meat is as steak, it’s not the only way. Sure barbequed ribs sound awesome, but it’s a line in the same chapter. A different chapter would be having meatballs. The idea is not relatively new since some unfounded evidence that suggests that the Romans used to enjoy it. Right now, if you are in the mood for some spaghetti, you will most likely take meatballs with that. But you don’t have to stick to just one recipe especially when there are so many available.

First thing you need to know about meatballs is that they are not entirely limited to beef. If its meat, it can be made into meatballs. That goes for veal, pork, fish and so on. If you’re vegan, then you can have a vegetable meatball -made with potatoes, beans carrots, without a trace of meat whatsoever. That way you don’t have to be left out of the meatball excitement simply you don’t take meat.

When it comes to preparing the meatballs, the ingredients you have with you will determine what recipe to follow. The most basic one involves mixing ground beef, with minced onions, breadcrumbs and salt. When you start being precise about different places and their style of preparation, you will find the small differences that are there. For instance, with the Danish recipe, you must have garlic, pepper and eggs in hand.

Don’t allow yourself to become tied in to one specific recipe. You might have become a master at it, but it defeats the purpose of having the many others when you won’t even try them out. If you love the Finnish meatballs, you might find the Chinese ones, made of pork, boiled and served with soy sauce are incredibly delicious as well.

When you are a committed vegetarian and want a piece of the action, you might want to get a little practice in making vegetable meatballs since they need more skill. Rounding the balls might not be easy to achieve, but that is dependent on the ingredients you are using. For others, like a potato-carrot meatball will only need vegetable puree as a thickener.

When you let your culinary imagination out of the box, there is little you won’t be able to do with meatballs. It doesn’t matter how you choose to prepare them- whether in an oven or a stovetop in a pan- the thing you are guaranteed of is getting a unique taste in the end. If you are not sure of what to serve them with- like mushroom or rice, just add sauce to complete the dish.
