In her chef apron in the Food Network, Rachael Ray is not only the mainstay host and a popular television personality, she is also the author of many cookbooks and editor – in – chief of her very own lifestyle – devoted magazine.
In the year 2007, she has already launched her very successful daytime television program entitled Rachael Ray. A joint production of CBS Television and Harpo Productions (Oprah Winfrey’s production company), Rachael Ray showcases Rachael’s energy, warmth and enthusiasm for cooking and living the good life.
She has this very simple and down- to – earth appeal which is effective in her cookery and makes the Americans interested again in doing the kitchen chores. But Rachael’s philosophy of solving everyday problems in a simple, straightforward way goes beyond just cooking and inspires her viewers to enjoy their lives more fully.
Rachel grew up in a cooking family. Her grandmother before loves to garden and cook for her twelve family members, just using her black apron. The family of his real father once owned a restaurant that is located in Cape Cod before they moved in new York. There Rachael’s mother worked for a restaurant chain as food supervisor. Even at a very early age, Rachael was already exposed to the many different styles in the culinary world, and she has also worked on the different establishments in the restaurant industry before.
She moved to New York city when she was in her early twenties and took a job at Macy’s candy counter, and later in their Fresh Food Department. And this is where she basically acquired her idea on handling gourmet food. Returning to upstate New York after a few years, she managed restaurants and pubs at Lake George’s Sagamore Resort; and then moved to Albany to work as food buyer and chef for Cowan & Lobel gourmet market. To increase her grocery sales in there, Rachael began her own series of cooking lessons that included a course on “Thirty Minute Mediterranean Meals”, which has become so popular, and then she soon signed up to be an Albany’s CBS affiliate for a weekly “Thirty Minute Meals” series on the evening news program of the network. This programs has become so popular and had let her win her first – ever 2 Emmy awards, and which paves the chance for her to write her own cookbook, which eventually sold ten thousand copies just in the Albany area alone.
