Camping Cooking Supplies And Choosing Them Right
Outdoor camping is a great activity for anyone in the family. Children and grandparents can enjoy this wonderful thing alone, or with friends, family, or a whole large group of people. The feeling of waking up in the morning in the middle of nowhere, no buildings blocking your view from nature is awesome. But for me the best part about camping is the magnificent food that is made. But the problem is that cooking outdoors requires a different set of everything, rules and equipment than most of you would use inside your home. Camping cooking supplies can include Dutch ovens, cast iron skillets, griddles, portable stoves, aluminum foil, tin cans, and even cardboard boxes!
The wide range of camping cooking supplies is vast and never ending, like the universe. And when you are pondering about the various gear and supplies there is quite a few things to think about. How much do you want to carry? If you are doing trailer camping and all your cooking will be done within a stones throw of your trailer then you don’t have to worry much at all. But if you are a backpacker, you know who you are, and everything is strapped on your back and you just try to get yourself lost, then the time you take to select your camping cooking supplies will be worth all your trouble.
To be cooking at camp there obviously needs to be fire of some sort. Good thing there is a few options with cooking outdoors. You have the campfire, a classic, charcoal, and white gas or propane. Obviously there are advantages and disadvantages to both. But the good part is that this is mainly selected when you choose your cooking equipment. You don’t want to use your Dutch oven over a propane stove do you? I mean, you can, there is no law against it but it defeats the purpose when you do something like that.
Another thing to consider when you are shopping around for your camping cooking supplies is how it is packed, especially if you fall into that backpacker group that I talked about earlier. Various companies over the years have poured tons of money into making the perfect item for you to carry around that is compact yet user friendly. There are some cookware sets out there that can fit into a small sack and can weigh only a couple pounds.
When you are camping and cooking outside something you need to think about is the utensils needed to make a soup or pie or whatever you are making out there in the woods. A wooden spoon is probably the most common thing most people take with them, it will last you years if taken care of.
You will also need to consider your options on how you will eat such a feast as chili. You can use regular bowls and such or the new squishy bowls that have recently become popular. You will also need a spoon to eat those delicious meals that you make with your camping cooking supplies. Try considering a spork, a spoon and a fork built into one nifty little device.
And how can you forget about the past time of the century when relating to camping? Roasting marshmallows and making smores! Just get several marshmallow roasting sticks and a few Hershey Candy bars and get to work. You will have a great time talking about the old days and sharing stories with your group of friends.
When you finally do choose whichever camping cooking supplies, the final decision is yours and only yours. But this comes responsibility because you can choose something totally wrong and be miserable for the rest of your trip. Welcome to the stress-free world of camping outdoors!
