Choosing the Right Cartridge for Your Soda Siphon Ensures Proper Utilization

All you need to make cold soda water is a soda siphon and a carbon dioxide gas cartridge. With these gadgets handy, you do not have to stock on bottled soda water. You can easily prepare a variety of exciting carbonated beverages and cocktail drinks. Using soda water from the siphon assures you of good quality soda water that would enhance every drink concoction you serve your guests. The fizz stays in the soda right up to the last glass. As the home made soda stays fizzy for long periods, it will not go waste.

The process of making home made soda remains the same even though there is a great variety of soda siphons and CO2 cartridges available in the market. Make sure you do not use it before reading the instructions. Uncap the siphon and insert the measuring tube. The water should be poured in the soda siphon. The measuring tube is used to put the riser tube and the gasket into the dispenser. You must insert the CO2 cylinder in the cartridge holder and either screw or snap the cylinder in place depending on the type of valve after putting the cap back on. There would be a hissing sound while you are screwing the cartridge on the holder and that means the gas is being released into the siphon. Shake the siphon vigorously for 5 to 10 times and then take out the empty cartridge. Screw the cover of the cartridge holder back on. To fill the inside of the glass direct the nozzle towards it and depress the lever.

Before using, charge the soda dispenser and put it in the refrigerator. Cold filtered water can be used. When you make soda water using the siphon and gas cartridges, use chilled water for best results. The infusion of carbon dioxide into water will give you bubbly effervescence. The high pressure forces the gas to mix or dissolve into the water and at the same time, the low temperature of the water enables it to trap or hide the CO2 within. The sparkling soda water that you see clearly in your glass is caused to sparkle by the trapped carbon dioxide. The effervescence is retained as long as the soda water remains cool but the CO2 starts to escape as the soda water starts to get warm.

When you run out of gas cartridges, make sure you get the same brand as your siphon. Its best to use HACCP certified disposable gas cylinders if your particular brand is not immediately available. This will guarantee that the CO2 gas cartridges make the food grade. An HACCP mark ensures that the quality of the product is suitable for use in food preparations.

It can identify and eliminate any possible hazards that can endanger one’s health. Though the HACCP mark is important, so is getting the suitable model of cartridge for your siphon. Check if what you need is the snap on or screw in type of cartridges.
