Though having a sandwich for lunch sounds like it would be healthy, it may not always be the case. A quick, healthy lunch that tastes great is just a couple of steps away.

Groceries to Pick Up: * Sliced Turkey * Apple * Fresh Lettuce * Pickles * Bread * 100 Calorie Snack

#1 Not all bread is created equal so you need to be aware of which kinds to buy. Some bread is healthy, yes, but many kinds of bread are not. Generally, wheat bread is more healthy than white bread, but if you aren’t into wheat bread there are choices out there. Target stores sell the Weight Watchers brand that comes in white bread. You can change things up by toasting your bread.

You cannot beat turkey in terms of lunch meat. Read the labels and find one that has a low fat count. Label reading is a good practice to get into. Pull out three slices for your sandwich and place them on top of your sandwich bread.

Vegetables are a vital part of every meal, so try to sneak them in whenever possible. Wash the lettuce and tear off enough for the sandwich, placing it on top of the turkey.

#4 It’s much healthier to pile on the veggies than to use a lot of condiments like mayo, so if you are looking to have a bit of juiciness to your sandwich add a slice of tomato or pickle.

The sandwich is now ready to go. Now all your lunch needs is the addition of a healthy snack– for which a fresh crispy apple always fits the bill.

If you have a sweet tooth or crave a little bit of crunch, then you can add a one hundred calorie snack to the mix. Having a nicely rounded out lunch keeps you fuller longer.
