The easiest and probably the most efficient way to hone your skills of cake decorating is by starting with decorating some cupcakes. These miniature cakes are so cute to look at, and you can even decorate them with whatever you want.

Say you’re doing them for Christmas – then come up with some of those lovely Christmas tree decoration cupcakes. And if someone you love is celebrating their birthday, make it look personalized by coming up with something that the person loves. If he’s a football fanatic, then you include it with some edible football cake topper. Just equip yourself with some creativity and a good recipe book, and that should do the trick.

But say you don’t have time for all these decorating stuff? Well, you better read these tips to help you decorate your cupcakes so easily, even with little time:

Apple cupcakes – these are done by decorating the cupcakes with red frosting. This can be done by mixing the confectioner with red food coloring. Afterwards, take a pretzel and dip with chocolate, to make it look like a stem. A green gumdrop can be used for the leaves, and soon you’ll have a beautiful apple cake.

Balloon cupcakes – This is a great way to ice and decorate a platter of little cakes. Take a selection of cupcakes and frost them in a variety of colors – red, yellow, blue, green, white. Then attach a selection of colorful ribbons and attach them to the bottoms of the cakes, so that it looks like a bunch of little balloons. Very colorful and pretty on the plate!

Footprints – Frost cupcakes with white or light chocolate icing. Add some coconut sprinkles to make the cakes look furry. Then take a chocolate mint and place it in the center for the “sole” of the foot and surround with three chocolate chips as toes. These should look like little paws, and they will taste delicious!

Grape cupcakes – These are little clusters of cupcakes with purple icing. Place some gumdrops on top, in the form of a cluster. Surrounding it with a couple tiny green gumdrops is enough to make it look like leaves of a vine.

A bed of roses – Add green food coloring to some coconut and put on top of the cupcake and put some candy roses on top of that. You can also make your own roses from pink frosting and put on the top.
