Gorgeous Ceramic Serving Trays Platters
When I was a child it seemed that summer came upon us, quicker than a raging, forest fire. We had been tired of being cooped up all winter, and once we had gotten our gardens planted, we were ready to have large bonfires, and great cookouts with family and friends. My mother’s gorgeous, ceramic serving trays platters were all the talk of the celebrating.
I was raised on a farm where long hours working, as a family, were greatly respected. We were not in the least bit wealthy but, we were thankful for what we had. We woke before the sun came up, and the chores were plentiful on that farm. Chickens, pigs, cows, horses, and many other animals had to be fed, stalls had to be cleaned, and gardens had to be hoed, in order for us to survive.
My mother’s platters were envied because they were made like nothing anyone had ever seen. The tints that were employed in the making of the three trays, seemed to hold your attention longer than you planned. Being porcelain, no one was allowed to handle them besides my mother.
I loved those dishes from the very moment I laid eyes on them. I could not wait until the next year, after momma stored them, so that I could view them again. Mom finally decided one day to tell me, how she got these wonderful pieces of art.
When my mother was just a teenager, her mother was very ill and the doctors did not give my grandmother very long to live. Just before grandmother passed on, she told my mother that there would be a gift for her on her craft table in grandmother’s workshop. My grandmother enjoyed crafting glass items, and the set of three platters was grandmother’s last project.
Those three porcelain platters are now on my china shelf, being bestowed to me from my momma before she passed away. No one touches them, and no one will until my death. They are worth more to me than all the money on earth.
