How To Keep Your Diet When Eating Out With Your Buddies

So, you are taking that first step to losing weight and are going on a diet. Good for you! But now you have a dilemma: none of your friends are dieting with you!

They do not try to eat healthy; you want to hang out with your buddies, but you don’t want to cheat on your diet every time you go out with them. So, the real question is: how do you successfully navigate and enjoy an evening out without cheating on your diet or being the boring “salad and water” person?

First, it is important to know where you’re going. Know the menus of the restaurants you plan to visit, so you know what you’re going to get beforehand and don’t run into any nasty surprises. Most places have their menus online, so this step shouldn’t be that difficult.

Always stand strong. Your friend may tease you or give you a hard time, but don’t let them persuade you into eating anything you know you shouldn’t. They probably don’t mean any harm, but their bad advice doesn’t help you.

If they are friends, they’re not trying to do you harm or disrespect you. Most likely, they just want to be naughty and get you to join their ways. Don’t let it get under your skin.

Next, when the drinks start coming around, know your limits, both in alcohol consumption and calories. Some alcoholic drinks, like beer, can be very fattening, so make sure you find a drink that is light.

Try drinking vodka and tonic instead of a rum and coke. Of course, there are people who say just avoid alcohol together, but being that strict is more likely to cause you temptation. Just drink wisely.

In the end, all you are really doing is having fun with your friends. Keep that in mind, and don’t get sucked into believing that the only way you can have fun is to eat and drink. You made a commitment to lose some weight; stick to it!
