Making Better Barbeques

If you have just started barbequing, you may have encountered some problems along the way. It’s quite natural as barbequing takes some getting used to. The important thing is that you learn from your mistakes and improve as you go along.

Before you start putting food onto the grill, apply some nonstick spray over the cooking surfaces you will use. The spray will keep the meat from sticking and tearing apart when you need to move them. You will lose the juices within the meat if they stick to the grill or tear apart.

Make sure the temperature is just right before putting food onto the grill. Otherwise, you will end up with unevenly cooked food, dried out, or burnt. With charcoal grills, the way to tell is to look at the coals, if they are entirely gray, you can put the food to grill. It is at this point that the temperatures are even and most of the lighter fluid used to ignite the grill has burned off.

Dealing with lighter fluids has its ups and downs. The food, compared to those cooked on different grills, has a distinctly different taste because of the lighter fluid. Nevertheless, you cannot eliminate its usefulness because it is hard to light up a charcoal grill without it.

You should make sure the meat is prepared properly before you cook it. Never cook frozen or partly frozen food on a grill. The meat should have had some 12 up to 24 hours of thawing first before you can start cooking it. It should also be room temperature, so even if it is thawed but inside the refrigerator, take it out.

Avoid putting back the cooked meat onto the same plate used when the meat was still raw. This can cause serious illness to spread among your family and friends. The same rule applies to all the utensils you used with the raw meat; do not use them to handle cooked food without washing them first.

Never poke you meat while it is cooking. Poking holes in meat will cause the juice inside to leak out into the bottom of the grill. Not only will this make your food dry and unappealing in the end, but it also could potentially ruin your barbeque grill. At the very least, it will cause a buildup of unwanted grease and juices on your girll, which will make cleanup harder.

Refrain from lifting the lid a lot once you put the meat on to cook. When you pull the lid open many times, you let the heat escape and you change the cooking temperature. These changes will affect the cooking adversely, drying up the meat and changing the airflow inside.

High heat is not always best. It may be all right to cook food quickly but you do not want to burn the meat and have it dry up because of too much heat.

While using tin foil or aluminum foil will make cleaning easier, it will cause your food to have more of a fried taste then a grilled taste.

If you are planning on using your favorite barbeque sauce, be sure to wait as long as possible to put it on the meat. Putting barbeque sauce on to early will not only potentially cause your meat to dry out, but it could also burn.
