Cola is among the most famous drinks on the planet.
It tastes great, and it’s wonderful for when you need something refreshing to drink, indeed loved by many.
Thats why there are many of us all over the world who love it.
It’s been around for a long period.It was produced by pharmacist Angelo Mariani in 1863. Since this drink has existed for so long, it was the subject of some rumors and myths.
While some of the myths are believable, others are completely jokes.
Since i’m one of those millions of people that love cola, on this page i will attempt to clear a few of this myths.
Myth 1 – “Cola has Cochineal, a bug dye” – That’s an odd myth.
You should have guessed yourself.
Cochineal is an organic food dye that comes from a small bug. Arch, Can you imagine.. but guess what, it’s not inside your cola.
Myth 2 – “Cola can be so acidic that a tooth, nail, penny or piece of meat, are left in some cola they will dissolve overnight” – This one is more widely believed, who knows why?
You might have heard the story about a fly that walks into a cup of cola, and that in the next day as been eaten away by the acidity of the drink.
Cola can eat away at organic materials including teeth, but it will never happen overnight.
Look for example at the healthy orange juice. Since this one is also very acidic, it would take about the same time as cola to dissolve a material.
Myth 3 – “The Aluminum from Cola cans can lead to Alzheimer’s disease” – I can understand that some people might believe in this one, but that’s not true.
Some studies where made, and it was never confirmed that aluminum could cause Alzheimer disease.
Nevertheless cola has think in that and all cola cans are lacquered on the inside to prevent any contact between the aluminum and the drink.
There are some other myths, but these are the ones that should be cleared.You can now drink your cola with no worries.
