The Alkaline Cooking Technique

In alkaline cooking, every ingredient or recipe prepared for a particular meal has alkaline content in it. The goal of alkaline cooking is to normalize the body’s acid and alkaline content and further give numerous health benefits.

The idea of using alkaline rich foods came from the notion that because the body is 4 parts alkaline and 1 part acidic, foods that have high content of alkaline can be helpful in the restoration of acid-alkaline balance and enhance the entire well-being of the body. Foods that have high acid content contribute to the increasing number of health related problems that the body is susceptible to. The alkaline cooking was created to help normalize the chemical imbalance that the body has when acidic foods enter the body. Primarily, the ingredients of the alkaline cooking rely on less meat and high in vegetables, nuts, grains and fruits.

Some are not that aware about it but one that greatly affects the chemical imbalance of the body is how foods were prepared and cooked in the kitchen. Different cooking methods are partly responsible for how our body reacts to the foods that we eat. There are numerous ways on how to cook food. Examples of these include deep frying, boiling, steaming, roasting and a lot more. Cooking may come as a second nature to all but the thought of how this might affect our health and body may not be thought about by many.

The popular deep frying is a very bad way of cooking food because of the excessive oils and fats that this cooking method needs. The reason why this is bad for one’s health is because the oils and fats in it are very high in acid content and the moment that these are digested in the body it can pose serious health problems in the future. Deep fry cooking also puts the food in high temperature of heat that all of the nutrients in food are gone. A good example is the deep fry cooking of red meat-branded as having high amounts of acid, and to submerge it in fat may only add to the acidity of the meat. Some of the acid that are known to be highly acidic are corn oil, vegetable oil, sunflower oil, margarine and saturated fats. Even vegetables that are cooked in this manner will lose all nutrients to the heat or to the oil used in cooking.

In order to retain all of the nutritive value of the food that we prepared and not alter the chemicals the food contain, low fire cooking is the key. This simple method can do a lot to maintaining the alkaline of the food, steaming, boiling, roasting, simmering and crock pot are just some of the ways that these foods can be cooked without losing the nutrients. White meat and vegetables that is cooked in low fire will not lose its nutritional value thus it directly transfers to the body once ingested. Vegetable diet may also use this method of cooking.

It’s okay to be careful with the food that we consume but we should also be careful about how these foods are prepared and processed in the cooking method that we use so that all of the nutrients are still intact and that chemical imbalance of the body is prevented.
