Vegetarian Food Recipes and Why Some People Become Vegetarians
You can eat meat almost everywhere you go, today. You’ll find vast quantities of in just about every supermarket known to man, in virtually every fast food restaurant you’ll visit, and even in the school cafeterias that feed our young children. If you live in the “west”, it is very hard to get away from meat, and if you’re a vegetarian, many simply ask why you’d want to do such a thing. With meat dishes being such a cornerstone in the native cuisine of most people reading this, why is it that some renounce meat altogether and go the way of the vegetarian and dine only using vegetarian food recipes?
Apparently, there are many, many different reasons some choose to no longer eat meat, but some of the more popular reasons I hear the vegetarians listing for turning to their food recipes for vegetarians include the growing belief that the meat many of us are eating today is becoming more and more unhealthy; the scientific evidence that is revealing the truth that our culture’s “mass production” style of “farming” is not doing good things to our environment; and the increased connection many people are feeling with animals, today, and their awareness that animals are just like us in that they too have a perceptual experience and feelings of their own and that they’re more like us that we ever thought.
In terms of how meat is becoming less healthy to eat, the growing concerns mostly have to do with the growth hormones that are used to fatten the animals up to and have them produce more. With all those synthetic hormones we inject into our livestock today, some of those chemicals find their way into our own body, after the animal has been slaughtered, cleaned, packaged, and ended up on our dinner plate.
Also, keeping the animals cooped up on smaller patches of land with little or no room to roam means they end up getting less exercise, which yields farm animals that are fatter and more unhealthy, which we are eating and is therefore less healthy for ourselves. Some also believe that the severely negative emotions of fear the animals experience in their final moments that are flowing flood through their blood and into the tissue of the meat as they take their last breaths, results in these chemicals producing a lot of toxins that stay in the meat long after the animals has died and that taints the meat and results in something that is not very healthy to eat. This is simply one more reason people are denying themselves meat today and only eating what they believe to be the healthier vegetarian food.
But there are heaps more reasons people are turning vegetarian and eating only vegetarians food recipes these days, and so I’m going to have to cover them in an upcoming piece that delves deeper into the motives of vegetarians, so be sure to check back again soon.
